3rd Teaser Video for Shin Ultraman Film Previews Kenshi Yonezu’s Theme Song

TOHO began streaming a third teaser video on Friday for Studio Khara’s new Shin Ultraman (New Ultraman) film. The video previews Kenshi Yonezu’s (theme songs for My Hero Academia second season, March comes in like a lion, Children of the Sea) theme song “M87.” The film will open in Japan on May 13. The film was delayed from its previously planned early summer 2021 timeframe due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tokyo Ghoul’s Sui Ishida Draws Marvel’s Moon Knight

Manga creator Sui Ishida (Tokyo Ghoul, Choujin X) drew a Tokyo Ghoul crossover image for the Marvel Studios live-action series Moon Knight. The tagline of the illustration translates to “Clad in white madness,” pointing to the shared themes between the two franchises. Ishida commented that Moon Knight might be his favorite Marvel superhero, praising the show’s fast-paced action, the gray morality in its violence, and the comical sadness of its protagonist. He highlighted the similarities between Moon Knight’s Steven and Tokyo Ghoul’s Ken Kaneki, saying that they both have a lot of knowledge in what they’re interested in and have their own dreams, but feel hopeless.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Mech on Standby in Akihabara Station

Vanillaware’s 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim game is promoting its Nintendo Switch port with an impressive display of protagonist Juro’s mech this weekend only in Akihabara station. The mech will be on standby in the event space inside the ticket barrier of JR Akihabara station’s Electric Town entrance from April 14 to 17. It will be viewable between 10am to 6pm. The game’s Switch version launched in the west on April 12 and in Japan on April 14.

Demon Slayer Anime’s Swordsmith Village Arc Previewed in Video

The “Kimetsu no Utage: Yūkaku-hen” event for the Demon Slayer anime revealed a new promotional video on Saturday for the anime’s upcoming Swordsmith Village Arc (Katanakaji no Sato-Hen) television anime. Director Haruo Sotozaki, character designer and chief animation director Akira Matsushima, the animation studio ufotable, and the main cast are all returning for the new arc.

Gunma-chan Mascot Anime Gets 2nd Season

Anime production company Ascension announced on Saturday that it has started production on a second season of the television anime based on Gunma Prefecture’s mascot character Gunma-chan. Ascension is also recruiting staff for the production. The first season premiered on Tokyo MX, TV Kanagawa, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, Sun TV, and KBS Kyoto in October 2021. Gunma Prefecture previously stated it has plans to stream the anime online worldwide with Japanese audio and English, French, and Chinese subtitles after the television broadcast had finished. The first season had 39 episodes with each episode running for seven minutes, and it aired on television three episodes at a time (similarly to how the Sazae-san anime airs). The final episode aired on December 26.

Collected Fruits Basket S1 Blu-ray Released Monday

 The original version of this story reported that Anime Limited was releasing its Collectors Blu-ray edition of the first season of In/Spectre on Monday April 18. While this date is still given on Anime Limited’s AllTheAnime, ANN has received a listing from a reliable source suggesting that this release has been moved to a later date.

Fruits Basket -prelude- Compilation Film’s BD Release to Include New 8-Page Manga

The official website for the Fruits Basket -prelude- compilation film revealed on Tuesday that the film’s Blu-ray Disc release on June 24 will include a new eight-page manga that original manga creator Natsuki Takaya drew for the release. The website revealed a sample page from the manga.

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron Game Gets Switch Version

Game developer Crim’s president Sawaki Takeyasu announced on Monday that the El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron game is getting a port for Nintendo Switch. More details will be announced on April 28, the first day of the 11th anniversary exhibition of the game. Takeyasu had announced last September that he was seeking a programmer to assist with a planned Switch port for the game. The port is specifically of the game’s recent PC release via Steam.

Ultraman 3D CG Anime Gets Final Season in 2023

Tsuburaya Productions revealed on Monday that the 3D CG anime Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi’s Ultraman manga will get a final season that will debut worldwide on Netflix in 2023. The company streamed a teaser trailer. In the trailer, Ultraman narrator Kōji Ishizaka shouts “Ultraman, stand up!” The video ends with the line, “There is one more response from Ultraman.”

Deadline: John Wick Creator to Write Live-Action Streets of Rage Film

Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Monday that the creator of the John Wick franchise Derek Kolstad is writing the script for an upcoming live-action film adaptation of Sega’s Streets of Rage game. dj2 Entertainment and Escape Artists will produce the film. dj2 Entertainment previously produced the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog films.

Sega Launches Sonic Origins Collection of Sonic the Hedgehog Games

Sega announced on Wednesday that it will release a new collection of remastered Sonic the Hedgehog games titled Sonic Origins for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on June 23. The collection will include Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and Sonic CD. The company streamed a trailer.

Kōkyū no Karasu Anime’s Promo Video Previews Characters’ Voices

Aniplex began streaming a teaser promotional video for the television anime of Kōko Shirakawa’s Kōkyū no Karasu (A Raven in the Harem) novel series on Thursday. The video previews the characters’ voices. Chizuru Miyawaki (Gintama TV anime, Gintama: The Final) is directing the anime at BN Pictures, and Satomi Ooshima (Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko) is overseeing the series scripts. Shinji Takeuchi (Fairy Tail, Gintama’) is adapting Ayuko’s original character designs for animation. Asami Tachibana (DARLING in the FRANXX, Haikyu!!, Moriarty the Patriot) is composing the music.

Digimon Survive Game Launches in Japan on July 28, Worldwide on July 29

 Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on Thursday that the Digimon Survive hybrid visual novel and tactical role-playing game will ship for PlayStation 4 and Switch in Japan on July 28, and for PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam worldwide on July 29. The game was previously announced as slated for release this year for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game will also be compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Live-Action Fullmetal Alchemist Sequel Films’ ‘Final’ Trailer Shows Fight Scenes

The official website for Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Fukushūsha Scar (Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Avenger Scar) and Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Kanketsu-hen – Saigo no Rensei (Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Last Transmutation), the two upcoming live-action sequel films in the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise, began streaming a new “final” trailer on Thursday. The trailer shows the various fights in the two films. The site also unveiled a new poster visual and comments by original manga creator Hiromu Arakawa. Arakawa previewed the first of the two films and said that it moved her to tears with the scenes of Tsubasa Honda (Winry Rockbell) and particularly Toshio Kakei (Fu).

Gurihiru, Samuel Sattin Launch Kickstarter for New Unico Manga

Octas, Inc. revealed on Tuesday that the Gurihiru illustrator duo (Marvel Comics’ The Unbelievable Gwenpool, Power Pack comic series, Avatar: The Last Airbender comic series, Spacebug anime) and Samuel Sattin (co-writer of Crunchyroll Essential Anime: Fan Favorites, Memorable Masterpieces) will launch a Kickstarter campaign for a new 162-page manga titled Unico: Awakening (Unico: Mezame no Ohanashi), based on Osamu Tezuka’s Unico manga. The campaign prelaunch page is now live, and the project will launch later this spring.

New Shaman King Anime Gets Sequel

The new television anime of Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga ended on Tuesday with an ad announcing that a sequel has been green-lit. The commercial spot and accompanying visuals tease Hana — the son of Yoh and Anna — as well as other new characters. The anime adapted all 35 volumes of the original manga’s new complete edition, which Kodansha started publishing in print volumes in Japan in June 2020. The first anime adaptation of the manga premiered in 2001.
