Evangelion Collab With PUBG Mobile Starts on May 14

An Evangelion collaboration with PUBG Mobile will launch globally on May 14, giving players the opportunity to purchase a Shinji Ikari plugsuit skin for their characters. In addition, a “Core Circle” survival battle mode featuring Unit-01 and the 6th Angel will launch on the Erangel map on May 19. Players must survive the Angel’s assault for a certain amount of time until the Unit-01 deploys and defeats the enemy.

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Manga Gets TV Anime

Shueisha announced on Friday that Nene Yukimori’s Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible (Kubo-san wa Mob o Yurusanai) manga is getting a television anime adaptation. Kazuomi Koga (Rent-A-Girlfriend both seasons, Rainy Cocoa, Welcome to Rainy Color) is directing the anime at studio PINE JAM (Do It Yourself!!, Kageki Shoujo!!). Yūya Takahashi (Laughing Under the Clouds, Lupin III: Part IV, Luck & Logic) is both overseeing and writing the series scripts, and Yoshiko Saitō (Comic Girls) is designing the characters for animation.

Los Angeles Chargers NFL Team Streams Anime Schedule

The Los Angeles Chargers NFL team posted its upcoming schedule… as an anime intro. Visually, the video sports references to One Piece, Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, Attack on Titan, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Naruto, along with in-jokes for NFL fans.

Key’s Stella of the End Kinetic Novel Releases for PC on September 30

Key revealed on Friday that it will release its Stella of the End (Tsui no Stella) kinetic novel for PC on September 30. The game was most recently slated for this summer. Key is also streaming a teaser trailer. Key originally revealed the game under the temporary title Project:PORTER in October 2020, with an original release window of 2021. Romeo Tanaka is writing the scenario, and SWAV is providing the illustrations. Zero Aimiya will perform the opening theme song “Breath of Stella.”

Yuri Is My Job! Romance Manga Gets TV Anime

A website opened on Saturday to announce that Miman’s Yuri Is My Job! (Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!) manga is inspiring a television anime. Yui Ogura and Sumire Uesaka are reprising their roles of Hime Shirasagi and Mitsuki Ayanokōji, respectively, from the seventh manga volume’s promotional video. Hijiri Sanpei (Wasteful Days of High School Girl) is directing the anime at Passione and Studio Lings, and Taisuke Iwasaki is designing the characters. The company Infinite is producing the project.

Second Girls und Panzer das Finale Blu-ray Released Monda

On Monday May 16, MVM will release Girls und Panzer das Finale Part 2 on Blu-ray. This is the second of a series of films which will finish the Girls und Panzer franchise. (The Girls und Panzer das Finale series is planned to have six films in total, with three films released in Japan so far.) The Blu-ray also includes the OVA episode, “Taiyaki War.”

Touken Ranbu Stage Play Gets Anime

The May 15 Osaka performance of the Touken Ranbu Kiden Ikusa-Yu no Adabana stage play announced that the first non-musical Touken Ranbu stage play, 2016’s Touken Ranbu Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji, is inspiring an anime adaptation. The play’s director and playwright Kenichi Suemitsu (Welcome to the Ballroom) returns to oversee and write the series scripts. While the announcement did not specify the anime’s medium or format, it teased that the anime’s “broadcast window and other details” will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

Rent-A-Girlfriend Anime Season 2’s Chizuru Video Announces July 1 Premiere

The official website for the anime of Reiji Miyajima’s Rent-A-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) manga posted a character promotional video and “date visual” for Chizuru Mizuhara from the second season on Saturday. The website and video announced that the season will premiere in the Super Animeism programming block on MBS, TBS, and 26 affiliates on July 1 at 25:25 (effectively, July 2 at 1:25 a.m.) The first anime season premiered on the Animeism programming block on July 10, 2020 and aired for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the anime worldwide except in Asia.

Live-Action BL Metamorphosis Film’s Trailer Reveals Theme Song

The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Kaori Tsurutani’s BL Metamorphosis (Metamorphose no Engawa) manga began streaming a trailer for the film on Monday. The trailer reveals and previews the film’s theme song, a cover of the Tjiros song “Kore Sae Areba” (As Long as I Have This) performed by lead actresses Mana Ashida and Nobuko Miyamoto. The film will open on June 17.

The Duke of Death and His Maid Anime Gets 2nd Season in 2023

The official website for the television anime of Koharu Inoue’s The Duke of Death and His Maid (Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid) manga announced on Tuesday that the anime’s sequel will be a second season that will debut in 2023. The manga ended on Tuesday. The television anime premiered in Japan in July 2021. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. Funimation had previously described the sequel as a second season. Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the manga in English.

Sega Plans to Release Multiple Spinoff, Remake Games

Sega’s latest earnings release for fiscal year 2022 (April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022) revealed on Friday that the company is “planning multiple titles” under the banner of “Remake/Remaster, Spin-Off/Change of theme” for its next fiscal year. The company anticipates an approximate 5 million units in sales for these upcoming titles. The report noted that titles under this banner such as Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, and Lost Judgment crossed a cumulative 4 million units in sales in the fiscal year that just ended.

Fire Force Gets 3rd Anime Season, Original Smartphone Game

The official website for the Fire Force anime announced on Tuesday that the series is getting a third season. The website also revealed that the franchise is getting an original smartphone game titled Fire Force: Enbu no Shо̄. Mrs. Green Apple will perform the theme song “Enen” for the video game. The game will be free to play but will have optional in-game transactions. Atsushi Ohkubo (Soul Eater) launched the Fire Force manga series in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in September 2015, and he ended the series on February 22. Kodansha had teased when the manga ended that there would be an “important announcement” for the franchise soon. The manga’s 34th and final volume shipped in Japan on Tuesday.

Final Fantasy XV Game Sells 10 Million Copies Worldwide

Square Enix announced on Tuesday that its Final Fantasy XV game has sold 10 million copies worldwide, including digital copies of the game. The number also includes sales on all platforms. Final Fantasy XV went on sale worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2016. The game received a Royal Edition for the PS4 and Xbox One in March 2018. The new release includes the previously released Season Pass DLC, as well as other features. The Windows Edition also launched in March 2018.

Crunchyroll to Stream Chainsaw Man Anime

Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it will stream the television anime of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man manga later this year in over 200 countries and territories around the world. The company will stream the anime in Japanese with English subtitles, and with an English dub. The anime will also get Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and German dubs. Crunchyroll is also streaming a trailer for the anime.

Wakame Konbu’s The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious Manga Gets TV Anime

Square Enix announced on Tuesday that Wakame Konbu’s The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious (Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii) manga is inspiring a television anime that will premiere on 24 stations in Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and TV Asahi’s network in July. ABC is streaming a teaser promotional video for the anime. Mirai Minato, who directed the television anime of Konbu’s other manga The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!, is credited as the chief director of the anime, and is also in charge of series scripts. Misuzu Hoshino, an episode director on The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!, is the director for the anime, with SILVER LINK. and BLADE as the animation studios. Yūshi Ibe, another episode director for The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!, is the assistant director. Machi Yoshino is designing the characters. Kōji Fujimoto (sus4 Inc.) and Osamu Sasaki also return from The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! as music composers. Yen Press licensed the manga and is releasing it in English.

One Piece Inspires Fitness Gym in Tokyo in 2023

A fitness gym inspired by the world of One Piece, called the “ONE PIECE FITNESS BragMen,” will open in Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward in early 2023. The establishment is a reference to an adventure tale that appears in the manga’s 13th compiled volume. The gym’s training room will have One Piece theming, and the trainers will be dressed as naval officers. It will also implement a point system to encourage further training, and operate a “pirate school” aimed at elementary school-aged children.

Adult Swim announced on Wednesday that it has greenlit two new anime series: Rick and Morty: The Anime and Ninja Kamui. Both series will premiere on Adult Swim and HBO Max.

PlayStation Plus Announces Launch Titles

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced on Monday that its updated PlayStation Plus service will include Japanese-produced games such as Bloodborne, Death Stranding, Demon’s Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, Naruto Shippūden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition, Soulcalibur VI, and Resident Evil, among others. Sony will launch the new features and tiers for its PlayStation Plus service on May 23 in Asian markets excluding Japan, June 1 in Japan, June 13 in the Americas, and June 22 in Europe.

Monster Hunter Rise’s Sunbreak Expansion Videos Preview Weapons

CAPCOM began streaming videos on Monday previewing the new weapon moves available in the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion for the Monster Hunter Rise game. The expansion will debut for Switch and PC via Steam on June 30. Players who already own the base Monster Hunter Rise game can purchase the expansion as DLC. There is also a set including both the base game and Sunbreak expansion. There game is also getting three new amiibo that will unlock costume sets in the game. The base game is getting a title update on June 30 in preparation for the new expansion.

Luminous Witches Anime Reveals Theme Songs

Kadokawa revealed on Tuesday the opening and ending theme songs for the Renmei Kūgun Kōkū Mahō Ongakutai Luminous Witches (Allied Air Force Magical Idols Luminous Witches) television anime series. The cast will perform the opening theme song “WONDERFUL WORLD,” and the ending theme song “Watashi to Minna no Uta” (My and Everyone’s Song). Both singles will launch on August 24.

Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World Anime Reveals Theme Songs

The official Twitter account for the television anime of Shachi Sogano’s Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World (Isekai Meikyū de Harem o) manga revealed the opening and ending theme songs on Wednesday. Shiori Mikami, who plays Roxanne in the series, will perform the opening theme song “Oath.” The ending theme song will be titled “Shinshi no Torihiki 60-Man Naal” (Gentleman’s Deal 600,000 Naal), and the staff will reveal the performer at a later date. The anime will premiere in July. Crunchyroll will stream the anime as it airs.

The Shin Japan Heroes Universe collaboration project between the Shin Godzilla, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time (Shin Evangelion Gekijō-ban :||), Shin Ultraman, and Shin Kamen Rider films announced the “Shin Japan Heroes Amusement World” mini-theme park space, which will open in three Bandai Namco stores in Japan this year for a limited time. The spaces will provide interactive attractions and games based on the four properties.

Netflix Streams New Shaman King Anime’s Final Set of Episodes on May 26

Netflix posted a trailer on Thursday for the new television anime of Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga, and it confirms that the fourth and final set of episodes will begin streaming on the service on May 26. The new Shaman King anime premiered in April 2021. Netflix began streaming the anime worldwide in August 2021. The anime ended with 52 episodes.
